New waters, confused and wary. Help?

I started a job a few weeks back and it was through work that I met a guy doing his training there. We only worked together for 2 days, but he was really talkative which was great because I find it hard to start and maintain conversations.
Well, he added me on FB and we chatted twice now, and now he has asked me for my number, wanting to know if we could "hang out sometime".
I only see him as an acquaintance, maybe friend, so it was only after I gave him my number that I realized that he may want to date!
I am extremely new to anything like that, never having had a boyfriend, and I'm kinda scared and anxious as to how to proceed.

Could someone give an outside opinion on this, and maybe advice?
