Hello! My little introduction...
Hi, my name's Ruby, although I go by a few different alias' on the internet.
I'm 19 and currently living in Canberra, Australia. Just finished my first year of University, with two more to go, and I'm heading off to Japan with two friends in a week!
I found this forum via Tumblr, as a lot of people seem to have done (strangevege.tumblr.com if any of you are interested)
I've dealt with anxiety through most of my life, but I haven't acknowledged it till about July this year, after coming back from an overseas trip I had a bit of a downward spiral. I have been "officially" diagnosed with generalised anxiety, performance anxiety and social anxiety.
I'm trying to work through it and I guess I wanted to join this forum to just touch base and talk to people who are going through similar things.
Drop me a line; surprisingly I like to talk
Rubles.

Re: Hello! My little introduction...
I envious that you live in Australia and having the chance to visit Japan. Enjoy your time there!
Re: Hello! My little introduction...
Don't be too envious about Australia!! It's sweltering hot at the moment!
Re: Hello! My little introduction...
I'm freezing my tush off right now. I prefer the heat over the cold, most definitely!
Re: Hello! My little introduction...
Ooooh no, I rather the cold! That's probably why I'm excited to go to Japan at the moment, all the snow and cold; definitely beats the heat any day!
Re: Hello! My little introduction...
Driving in the snow though, never ever fun. I much prefer the sun and dry roads.
Re: Hello! My little introduction...
Obviously our only option is to swap.
You can come live in my un-airconditioned uni accommodation with the lovely sun and I'll go play in the snow ^.^

Hello!! I'm going to sound a little naive, but I thought Arizona was all desert... Now, don't get me wrong, we have desert here, but no one lives there!! We're coast huggers, the middle's uninhabitable lol
Uhmm I'm going backpacking with two friends, so we're travelling up and down Japan. Main places we're staying are Osaka, Hiroshima, Tokyo, Nara and Takayama

Re: Hello! My little introduction...
Bring it, I can handle it! Haha. It's been flurry but no serious snow yet where I live.
I was also born in the hot weather (Vietnam!).

Re: Hello! My little introduction...
Woah, Vietnam is really hot and sticky from what I've heard!! Thankfully I didn't grow up in a place that was too humid, my home town is one of those "further out, and it's just desert from then on" sort of places, so hot and barren kind of describes that lol

You'd be right; only northern arizona is not desert, and receives snow. I lived pretty far south, so when we got snow, everyone was freaking out lol. We have no coast to hug; just more desert.
are you staying with people as you go? why did you all decide to make the trip?
Re: Hello! My little introduction...
I'm glad I only live in Vietnam for the first seven years of my life. It is indeed very humid, the river or horribly dirty too! But I'm going to bed, gotta work in the moring! Goodnight!

Re: Hello! My little introduction...
Well, I love to travel overseas. Something about being a stranger in a place where no one knows you is amazing. I travelled to South Korea and stayed with family back in June/July and it was really freeing as I had very little anxiety while I was over there. I could speak three words of Korean and I was a westerner, people either goggled at you or left you alone.
The two friends I'm travelling with, one does an undergraduate diploma (like a mini uni course) in Japanese and the other just has a real fascination for the Japanese culture, I just love to travel and am very interested in seeing countries from a sort of anthropological viewpoint. We just all decided on Japan, and then started organising!
